After a hideous year, receiving an invitation to return to my favourite spa and try out a new treatment was just the tonic I needed.
I did a full review of my visit at Ye Olde Belle Spa and Hotel back in 2019, which you can read here, so I won't go into too much detail this time, other than to say that it is just as fabulous now as it was then.
During this visit, I was asked to review the HaloIRTM experience, which promises lots of wellness benefits, including reduction of stress and fatigue (and who doesn't need that this year!). Launched in 2020, Ye Old Belle Spa is the first in the UK to offer the revolutionary breath and detox HaloIRTM treatment, where infrared sauna technology has been combined with halotherapy (salt therapy) and chromatherapy (colour therapy) to offer an immersive wellness experience.
The treatment takes place in a wooden sauna-type box that can fit up to two people and is located within a private treatment room. You are given a list of colours and a description of the treatments they correspond to eg. pneumonia, cataracts, muscle stimulation, joint lubrication. You choose the temperature of your environment and then just sit back and relax while it works its magic. It's certainly a different experience, with the warming glow of the lights and the heat of the sauna. We chose orange for localized fat reduction, as 2020 has seen many months of excess. It also helps to address asthma and bronchitus and, as a sinusitus sufferer, this seemed like the perfect choice for me all round. 20 minutes later, we emerged feeling like we'd had a slightly surreal experience and hoping that the combined therapies would have the desired effects. It's always nice to try something new and HaloIRTM certainly offers a decent list of ailments it can treat, so I suspect there is something for everyone. Read more about the HaloIRTM experience here.
I have to say that that Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Spa is still my favourite in Nottinghamshire. There is nothing, in my opinion, that needs improving. It's all-round pampering perfection from start to finish, with a friendly, helpful team, spotless surroundings and a real taste of luxury at an affordable price.
